About Golden Homes George

George is ready. The full page and 10 new questions are below, and the file is attached. As you asked, I left out the number of homes sold. I leaned on what George buyers want to know instead: why people are moving there, the estates and the move from Gauteng. Three things to check:

  • Branch address and email. The website has no street address for George, and the branch email is Corina’s. For now the page ends with “Call Marietjie on 083 301 6099”. Send me the address and the email to use and I’ll add them.
  • Marietjie’s title. The website lists Marietjie as an agent with no title, while the page says Marietjie manages the branch. This is one for the Branch Manager change.
  • “More than 20 years in Gauteng”. I took this from Primrose opening in 1999. Change it if you’d rather say something else.
  • George Property

Golden Homes George sells homes across George and the Garden Route, from the town centre and Heatherlands to Blanco, Kraaibosch, Pacaltsdorp and the coast at Wilderness and Victoria Bay. Yvonne van Wyk and Corina Reuselaars founded the branch in 2022, bringing our Gauteng experience to one of South Africa’s fastest-growing towns. Marietjie Haasbroek manages the branch. If you’re moving to George or selling here, Marietjie is the person to call.

Why so many people are moving to George

George is one of the top towns in the country for semigration. In 2024, Lightstone counted more homeowners moving into George than out, and only Cape Town, Milnerton and Mossel Bay gained more. Buyers come for the climate, the schools, the mountains and the beaches, and for a town that works. George Airport is about 7 km from the town centre, with direct flights to Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban. Well-priced homes under R2.5 million often sell within days, so it helps to have an agent who knows the stock.

A town with deep roots

George was proclaimed on St George’s Day, 23 April 1811, and named after King George III. York Street, the main road through town, is named after his son, the Duke of York. The old Slave Tree, an English oak with a chain grown into its trunk, is a national monument. St Mark’s Cathedral, built in 1850, was once the smallest cathedral in the Southern Hemisphere, and the church in Pacaltsdorp, finished in 1825, is the oldest in the Southern Cape. George grew on timber, furniture and wagon making, and today it’s the business centre of the Garden Route.

  • Where to live in George
  • Heatherlands. One of George’s most established upmarket suburbs, with large family homes on big stands and a few flats and townhouses.
  • George Central and Bo-Dorp. Older homes, flats and townhouses within walking distance of York Street, the coffee shops and the botanical garden.
  • Blanco. On the mountain side of town, with newer secure estates such as Mountain View Estate, Mont Fleur Mountain Estate and Cherry Creek Country Estate.
  • Kraaibosch. Secure estates on the eastern side, including Kraaibosch Manor, Kraaibosch Country Estate and the Kraaibosch Park retirement estate.
  • Fancourt. The golf estate that hosted the Presidents Cup in 2003, built around the 1859 Fancourt manor house.
  • Denneoord, Dormehls Drift, Loerie Park and Heather Park. Established family suburbs close to schools and the town centre.
  • Pacaltsdorp. South of town towards the sea, with some of George’s most affordable family homes and a few with ocean views.
  • Wilderness, Victoria Bay and Herolds Bay. Coastal homes about 20 minutes from town, for buyers who want to live near the beach.

Why Golden Homes George

Yvonne van Wyk and Corina Reuselaars opened Golden Homes George in 2022, after more than 20 years of selling homes in Gauteng. Many people moving to George come from Gauteng, and so do we, so we know both ends of the move. Marietjie Haasbroek manages the branch and helps buyers compare George’s suburbs and estates before they move.

You shouldn’t have to choose a new town from more than 1,000 km away. With Golden Homes you won’t.

Call Marietjie on 083 301 6099.
