Who is responsible for your information

Golden Homes is a franchise of independently owned branches. The responsible party for information you give a branch is that branch, which is a separate registered company. Head Office is the responsible party for enquiries sent through this website before they are passed to a branch.

What we collect, and why

• Enquiries. Your name, telephone number, email address and what you told us you are looking for. We use it to answer you and to pass the enquiry to the right branch.
• Sellers and landlords. Identity and address verification required by the Financial Intelligence Centre Act, and the details of the property. We are legally required to collect and keep this.
• Buyers and tenants. Proof of income, bank statements and a credit check where you have applied to rent, with your consent.
• Website use. Basic technical information about your visit. See the cookie policy.

Who we share it with

The branch handling your matter. Conveyancing attorneys, bond originators and credit bureaux where a transaction requires it. The Property Practitioners Regulatory Authority and the Financial Intelligence Centre where the law requires it. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for anybody else's marketing.

How long we keep it

FICA records must be kept for five years after a transaction concludes, which is a legal obligation and not a choice. Enquiries that do not lead anywhere are kept for twelve months and then deleted.

Marketing, and how to stop it

We only send marketing where you have agreed to it or where you are an existing client and the message relates to similar services, which is what section 69 of the Protection of Personal Information Act permits. Every message carries a way to stop it, and stopping takes effect immediately rather than at the end of a campaign.

Your rights

You may ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it where we are not legally required to keep it, and object to direct marketing. Write to the Information Officer above. Security

Information is held in access controlled systems. Branch staff see the records of their own branch and no others, which is enforced in the database rather than by hiding a button.
