About Golden Homes Kensington

Golden Homes Kensington sells homes in Johannesburg’s older east, from Kensington and Bez Valley to Cyrildene, Bruma, Malvern, Troyeville and the suburbs around them. Yvonne van Wyk opened the branch in February 2026 as an offshoot of Golden Homes Primrose, which Yvonne co-founded in 1999 and which has sold more than 1,300 homes. Lydia Pushuli manages the branch. If you’re buying or selling a character home in the east, Lydia is the person to call.

A suburb of koppies and character homes

Max Langermann laid out Kensington in 1897 on land that was once part of the farm Doornfontein, and the first streets were surveyed in 1903. Langermann Drive carries the founder’s name, and the streets off it run in alphabetical order, named after British warships. The suburb is built over several koppies, and years of tree planting give it a wooded feel. On Caledonia Hill, the Kensington Cross is a granite memorial with an identical twin at Edinburgh Castle. Today about 19,000 people live in Kensington, many in restored older houses, and the city centre is about 10 minutes away.

Why Golden Homes Kensington

Golden Homes Kensington is our newest branch, opened by Yvonne van Wyk in February 2026. It grew out of Golden Homes Primrose, just across the boundary in Germiston, which has sold more than 1,300 homes since 1999. Lydia Pushuli manages the branch, backed by the Primrose team and their more than 25 years of selling homes.

You shouldn’t have to sell a character home through an agent who doesn’t know its street. With Golden Homes you won’t.
